Here is a video teaching you how to insert / remove and handle your lenses.
Nolke Opticians will not allow you to go home without being confident in handling your contact lenses. This video may however come in handy as a refresher at home.
Please watch the video and contact your optometrist should you still have any difficulty.
CONTACT LENS HANDLING TIPS
Always wash your hands before handling your contact lenses.
Use soap to wash your hands and rinse them thoroughly
Ensure your contact lens is clean, in-date and for the correct eye
Keep your finger nails "in control" so as to prevent lens damage or eye scratches!
Ask your optometrist to teach you how to check if your lens is inverted if you don't already know
Minimal lens handling is always best practice
GOLDEN RULE - if your lens irritates - TAKE IT OUT
If you eye is red, sore or not settling with the contact lens - remove the lens.
Pool water is not clean - best not wear lenses in swimming pools.
Head over water play in swimming pool is acceptable.
Showering in contacts is acceptable if you can keep your eyes closed and water out!
Finally - If you believe your eye is irritating, red, sore painful or your vision is blurring
Come in to see your optician as soon as possible,
or if not available call in to your local hospital eye casualty.
In Waterford we are lucky to have the regional Hospital
which has an A&E Dept and in the A&E is an eye casualty clinic.
This eye casualty is your best option for 24hr emergency eye care.
